Interesting video

Today I came across a blog post about a mid 90's documentary on the synthesis of political "spin" and the concept of "political correctness".

"Artist Brian Springer spent a year scouring the airwaves with a satellite dish grabbing back channel news feeds not intended for public consumption. The result of his research is SPIN, one of the most insightful films ever made about the mechanics of how television is used as a tool of social control to distort and limit the American public's perception of reality."

I immediately realized this was a movie I watched in a video production class I took back around 96-97 maybe. I had totally forgotten about it, but it is very interesting and still relevant to today’s political environment. The documentary was made at the time when the word "spin" was being coined and provides an interesting view of this "kinder and gentler" cousin of "propaganda" that has been greatly perfected in the years that followed.

Re: Interesting video

You're welcome. Let me know what you guys think of it.

I find it pretty interesting considering how the art of spin has been perfected and expanded by Clinton's predecessors. Just have a look at last week's "we were never stay the course" attempts at rewriting recent history...

Re: Interesting video

sheesh, I'm getting dizzy.

Haven't you guys figured out telegenic, articulate guys with bland suit and tie uniforms, yeah-that's right-uniforms, equal "you better check the truth, MF?"

Playing on a line from Shakespeare --- "Let's kill all the politicians and pundits!"

"Lies, lies!  I tellyou, it's all Lies!"

"prostate exam"... is that what they're calling it at the bath houses these days?

Re: Interesting video

Nips, if it was a suit instead of a white coat, that certainly would be my first clue something was amiss with the "examination."

Didya enjoy it???

btw - a gloved finger is not a penis.
