COD 4

Any thought on this one?
I know my nephew is gettin this for me for x-mas
I know activision and infinity ward has pissed alot of people off with COD 3 not available on pc and
we have had our hand at  B2142 and i was wondering what is next for this gaming clan!
Are we going to make an effort to game ?
I will cobble together enough hardware to put together a dedicated server for the clan so that we may have our own location to game, as it was in the beginning!
If thats what it will take for all of us to reunite?
Granted all this coming from someone who has not been around much and i know with the holidays and some of you guys have been allowed to reproduce in accordance with your local state laws and that means kids!
Of which i have none my state wont allow it!
after the holidays let see if we can rally the troops and once again become an ACTIVE! gaming clan!

Any thoughts?
or am I just blowin smoke out my ass!

Why I oughta!

Re: COD 4

just loaded cod 4 and it recomends for a cpu:
  pentium 4 @ 4.24Ghz / AMD 64 2800+ / intel and AMD @1.8Ghz dual core processor or better---WTF?

I have an MSI motherboard  AGP with a socket 478 and the highest CPU I have found for my application is a prescott @ 3Ghz is there anyhting better out there for my application?
will .2 Ghz make any difference?

I am running @2.8Ghz operating speed with 3.25 Gigs of Ram
With my current setup I am getting lag in the single player
I want to upgrade but I would hate to piss away all the money I spent two years ago for all that memory and that g-force 7800 video card setting up this Agp system
I don't need the periferals I just want to build a cost effective system that rocks when I want to game
Or what can i do to max out the speed and preformance of what I have
anybody? anybody?

Re: COD 4

my guess is it's the video card crippling you. post the specs for the card you have. Is it 512mb???

Besides that you said you have a socket 478 mobo, is the memory dual-channel, PC3200?

Need to know a little more about what you have in there.

No clue what all that crap means, Vista seems  (ok) at best, lots of different features.

It's pretty quick, but I know hawk or fred could make her purrrr!

Super quiet machine!

Re: COD 4

At first glance, looks like a nice machine.  <except for the fact it is an AMD processor.  LOL>

What vid card is in there?  That's important.  Hopefully, it is not MB-mounted and shares the system memory.

Vista sucks!!!  Win XP rules... for now.

Re: COD 4

here is a limk to the mobo I have www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp? … p;class=mb
and the specs for my video card are as follows:www.bfgtech.com/bfgr78256gsoc.aspx

the video card is set up the way it came out of the box If I can tweak this set up to make it better that would be great

Roscoe :nice lookin new rig
jj: fuck x-box 360 you console using Nazi
Maxi:   yes   XP proffesinal rules! (for now)
Fred: Thank you for your help

ps :I just tried out my COD2 and I am getting Lag in single player also ,WTF?
I defragged and did a clean install about two weeks ago ,do I need to reset my virual memory or  I dont fuckin know? help!!!

I found a power problem with my system :I have  300Watt power supply My video card needs that much,my mobo needs min of 300Watts so I just installed a 500watt power supply and it seems to help the game runs much smoother with only the occaisonal lag
But I still want some input on tweakin this thing

Re: COD 4

Moe, the power supply issue was probably a big part of it. under powered AGP 8x falls back to 4x! Which obviously is half the transport bandwidth. That's not good at all.

so, my guess is the weak point is still gonna be that video card simply because it's 256MB. If you can get into a 512MB for cheap, that's what I would suggest. But also weight the fact that AGP is dead technology versus the cost to upgrade. Basically you shouldn't sink a ton of money into a system that is that close to the end of it's life cycle.

You should also be running DDR 400 (PC3200). So if you're not... that's gonna be a big part of the problem too, regardless of if you have 3GB or not. You want your ram to be as fast as the bus will support (then you overclock it!!!) or you're wasting potential in the system and probably creating a bottleneck. So, check the specs on the ram too.

Moe,

I've got a Geforce 7600 GS 512 mb video card, agp, its only a month old, and 3 one gig sticks of kingston memory, 2 512 sticks (pc3200) in my old machine. I thing my mother board craped out one me, that why I went out and spend 750 bucks on this thing. Not sure if I'm gonna fix it for the kids or sell the parts, but if your interested let me know.

Roscoe
Unless you want your kids beatin on the new system I would try to repair it so they can e-mail and surf.
Thanks for the offer but I am going to sick with my 7800 for now I have only had this a little over a year and I want to tweak my system to maximize its performance I am going to try and get all I can out of the hardware I have Before I start to change parts. plus the new 500 watt power system is making a mad difference everything is working great right now. Like my dad use to say" treat it like a sore dick and dont fck with it"

Re: COD 4

Nice rig rosco. As for tweaks there isn't much head room on the AMD chips so your better off not messing with over clock. A good boost for you is to adjust your memory timing. You can check it with a program called CPUZ. Download it and run it it will tell you what your memory timing's are set too. Prob something like 5 5 5 18 2T. Getting it down to 4 4 4 4 12 or even 15     2T will give it a shot in the ass. You might have to boost your memory voltage a touch. Not much .1 to .3 volts or so.

Re: COD 4

I have a question, when I bought the tower I bought another 1 gig stick of kingston memory. I have two 1 gig sticks and two 512 sticks on my machine, Can I pull out a 512 and throw in a 1 gig and leave the other 512 in or should I remove both?
